Fourth Presbyterian Church holding immigration panel discussion

Michigan Avenue Forums at Fourth Presbyterian Church are holding a panel discussion-Immigration Dreams and Challenges: Entering the Conversation from a Place of Faith- on November 21st, 2013. The event will take place at 6:30 pm in the Buchanan Chapel located at 126 E. Chestnut Street (at North Michigan Avenue) in Chicago.

The discussion will focus on the role religion, religious groups, and institutions have on the national debate surrounding immigration reform. The event will bring together members of the religious community, politicians, and lobbyists to contribute to the conversation. Admission to this event is free.

The panel will be moderated by the Reverend Melissa Sanchez of Esperanza, the largest faith-based Hispanic organization in the United States.

The panel includes:

Lawrence Benito, the Executive Director of the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights and a proud alumnus of the 2009 class of Leadership Greater Chicago and the 2011 Shannon Leadership;

Kathleen Murtha, Business Manager of Interfaith Committee for Detained Immigrants; she currently serves on the Core Committee of Sisters and Brothers of Immigrants and as a Religious Associate of the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago;

Ahmed Rehab, Executive Director of Council on American-Islamic Relations Ð Chicago and a regular contributor to the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Public Radio; he lectures at the University of Chicago and around the country; and

U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky of IllinoisÕ 9th congressional district.
